Hawks Nest can turn on some excellent beach fishing in the right conditions. There's usually not much swell action around the surf club area unless the swell is from the north or east but the further you go up towards Dark Pt. the more the south swell gets in. Gutters are usually pretty good up there too.
If you're fishing the beach there are plenty of pipis and beach worms available. If you can't catch the worms yourself there is a sports store in town that sells live worms. Last time I fished there (around this time last year) tailor were running hot. Apparently quite a few jewies are caught off the beach there too.
The Myall Waterways are a fisherman’s delight offering River and Beach fishing all the year round. Game fishing can also be found off the coast. There are a number of businesses in Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest who supply bait and tackle. Purchase Fishing Licence
