3-Night Recharge Getaway in Hawks Nest

Sometimes you don’t need a big holiday. You just need three nights somewhere beautiful, a slower pace, fresh sea air and enough time to remember what it feels like to properly switch off.

Welcome to Hawks Nest, where the Myall River meets the coast and a long weekend can feel like a much bigger escape. With pristine beaches, peaceful waterways, coastal walks and plenty of places to eat, explore and relax, it’s the perfect destination for a 3-Night Recharge Getaway.

Day 1: Arrive, exhale, unwind

Leave the everyday behind and make your way to Hawks Nest. Once you arrive at your holiday home, resist the temptation to unpack everything immediately. Pour yourself a drink, step outside and take a breath.

You’re on holiday now.

Spend your first afternoon wandering along Jimmy’s Beach, where calm waters and golden sand make it an easy spot for a swim, paddle or simply stretching out with a good book. As the afternoon fades, head down to the beach and watch the sky change colour before settling into a relaxed evening at your holiday home.

No schedules. No rushing. Just time.

For dinner, embrace a little local indulgence with a sneaky Chinese at Moongarden Restaurant. It’s the perfect way to finish your first day: good food, good company and absolutely no need to think about what time you have to get up tomorrow.

Day 2: Paddle, explore & lunch by the Myall adventure

tart your morning on the water with Lazy Paddles, and discover the Myall River from a completely different perspective.

Their 2-hour Myall River Discovery kayak tour is ideal for beginners or anyone keen to explore the river with a local guide. Glide lazily through the tranquil mangroves, learn about the history of the river and keep watch for local wildlife — including dolphins that sometimes make an appearance.

All equipment is provided and you’ll be accompanied by a friendly local guide, so all you need to bring is your sense of adventure.

After two hours on the water, you’ll have earned lunch.

Head to Mumms on the Myall in Tea Gardens for a relaxed lunch overlooking the water. Take your time. Order something delicious. There’s no need to rush anywhere.

Spend the afternoon exploring the local galleries, including The Gallery at Galleries in the Gardens, where you can discover the work of talented local artists and makers.

Then head back to your holiday home for a quiet afternoon. Read a book. Have a nap. Go for a swim.

Or do nothing at all.

Day 3: Dunes, beaches & a Port Stephens adventure

Today is for exploring.

Start with a visit to Dark Point, where the dramatic coastal dunes meet the ocean. Take the walking track through the sand dunes and enjoy spectacular views across the coastline. It’s a beautiful reminder of just how wild and untouched this part of the NSW coast can feel.

Afterwards, make your way back towards Hawks Nest for some beach time. Take a dip at Bennetts Beach, wander along the sand or simply find a shady spot and settle in.

Feeling like a change of scenery?

Make your way across the water on the ferry to Port Stephens and spend the afternoon exploring the other side of the bay. Browse, grab a coffee, wander along the waterfront or simply enjoy the novelty of arriving somewhere by boat.

As the afternoon winds down, head back to Hawks Nest and enjoy a relaxed evening at your holiday home.

Day 4: Slow mornings & one last coffee

There’s no need to make an early start on your final morning.

Sleep in. Make breakfast. Take one last walk along the beach and breathe in that fresh coastal air.

Then head to Tillermans for one final coffee by the water before packing up and reluctantly pointing the car home.

Although, by now, you’ll probably already be thinking about your next visit.

Your 3-Night Recharge Await

The beauty of a Hawks Nest getaway is that you can fit plenty into three nights without ever feeling like you’re rushing.

You can kayak through mangroves in the morning, discover local art in the afternoon and eat something delicious by the water that evening. You can walk across towering coastal dunes, catch a ferry to Port Stephens or spend an entire afternoon doing absolutely nothing on the beach.

It’s the kind of getaway where the itinerary is optional, but the relaxation isn’t.

Three nights. Fresh air. River adventures. Beach walks. Long lunches. Great food. Slow mornings.

Consider this your sign to book the escape.

Hawks Nest is waiting.
